FAQS

What is your booking and cancellation policy?

Full advance payment is required to secure your booking (bank transfer and credit card facilities are available). If you wish to cancel your booking, we will provide a full refund as long as you provide a minimum 48 hours’ notice.

What happens if the weather is adverse?

Port Macquarie is well known for its idyllic weather. However, like everywhere else, we still experience occasional inclement weather conditions. Port Macquarie Adventure Company reserves the right to cancel any tours subject to weather with a full refund. Our tour operators are experienced in local weather conditions and all tours are assessed and confirmed/cancelled with as much notice as possible to ensure participants have the opportunity to reschedule or make alternate arrangements.

How safe are the adventures?

Adventure at heights is literally our business and, as such, your safety is our priority. Sam Dalton has successfully and safely enabled thousands of people from all walks of life to enjoy the thrill of abseiling and climbing. While adventure at height is inherently dangerous, Port Macquarie Adventure Company guide Sam Dalton boasts a 100 per cent safety success rate in his 22 years of facilitating climbing and abseiling adventures around the world.

What are the age requirements?

With the exception of family or special interest group bookings, we endeavour to tailor adventures to specific age groups: adults with adults or kids with kids. However, for our most popular half day and full day tours, we generally require a minimum age of 12 years. School of Rock school holiday programs are generally open to children from 8 to 12 years of age. Please enquire directly with Sam Dalton regarding younger children.

Are the guides qualified?

Our guides maintain Working with Children checks and adhere to a stringent film and media policy. In over 22 years of professional roping and adventure guiding, Sam Dalton has attained the requisite experience and holds national and international qualifications in risk management, abseiling, climbing, managing groups and planning outdoor activities, wilderness first aid and technical rescue.

What days and times do your tours depart?

Tours run morning, afternoon or all day 7 days a week, 365 days a year subject to weather conditions, site access, minimum group numbers and guide availability.

What should we wear / bring?

Comfortable sun smart clothing including hats or caps is recommended and closed comfortable shoes/boots are compulsory. Warm clothing and layering is essential in winter months as, while the air and wind can get chilly, the physical nature of climbing or abseiling combined with direct sun can get hot. Please ensure you bring personal medications, a personal drink bottle and personal sunscreen. And, don’t forget a camera!

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes we do. We offer gluten-free, lactose-free and vegetarian options with prior arrangement.

Do you offer corporate events?

Yes we do. Please enquire directly with Sam Dalton regarding group sizes, activities, rates and special requests.

Do children under 18 years need to be accompanied by an adult?

So we can give all of our clients the best possible level of care and attention, children and teenagers under 18 require adult accompaniment. Our half day tours are conducted in the heart of Port Macquarie and as such provide parents and carers to join us and observe the activities free of charge. However, we ask that friends and family who choose to attend please observe the safety brief to ensure the entire groups’ safety. For School of Rock Holiday programs, we encourage parents to participate in belaying, which is a great bonding activity for mums and dads and their budding adventurers.
